The sweater is slowly coming along. After using a cable cast on I faltered when setting up stitch markers to separate the different patterns. Since Im using 5 different cable and texture stitch patterns from four different books I wanted to find a way that I could easily and quickly reference the necessary charts. As luck would have it Virginia K Knits recently posted a reel of how she used shrinky dinks to make stich marker cable charts so she could easily see where each chart was to be used in her pattern and follow the chart. Inspired by her ingenuity I drew out my 5 charts , punched a hole, and shrunk them down. But because my charts repeat and I only made one shrinky dink per chart I decided to color code each chart with the marker on the knitting.

For example if I reach a blue stitch marker that means I need to do the blueberry stitch pattern. A yellow means diamond, red is right leaning cable, orange is left leaning, green is honeycomb. And I am using pink to represent filler space.
The stitch marker cable charts are small so they may not be an option if you have poor eyesight but you can still use the color coding method by simply highlighting or marking each chart, whether thats on paper or digitally.

While I had my shrinky dink sheets out I also made a simple one to ten counter so I can easily track how far along I am.

Now that everything is set up and im getting in the groove of the overall pattern Im feeling good and am excited to watch the sweater come to life.
I’d love to hear from others as to how you keep track of multiple stitch patterns within a project.
More to come soon!
